The Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO) invited companies to devise an innovative, sustainable way to elevate its touring program and deepen its engagement with schools and communities across Queensland. Imagine Realities answered the call, creating an immersive educational experience that brings the joy of live music and the spirit of the QSO to life.

We asked the Imagine Realities' team what it was like to create a holographic symphony experience for the Tilt Five system.

What was the production process for you and your team? What did you learn?

Our team consisted of a 3D modeler and animator, a game designer, a Unity programmer, a tester, and a project manager. The QSO educational designer provided us with the layout and formation of the instruments they wanted the children to learn. We completed all the 3D assets before beginning game development using the Tilt Five SDK in Unity. The product was tested internally, in collaboration with QSO, and finally with our primary target audience—school children—at the QSO Education Concerts held in Cairns and Gladstone, regional towns in Queensland, Australia.

What made you want to integrate Tilt Five into your experience/application?

To showcase the game as a hologram, highlighting it as an innovative feature of our immersive educational experience.

Do you have any tips for developers who are interested in integrating their existing game/application or building a new experience for Tilt Five?

First, familiar yourself with how to use Tilt Five by playing free games included in the demo pack. Analyse all the different interactions used in the game and how you can apply them into your own game. Then, make the necessary adjustments to ensure the interactive features work well with the wand controllers. It is important to use high-quality yet optimised 3D assets.

What was it like to see your game on the Tilt Five system for the first time?

A great sense of accomplishment, managed to share what we have not done before with children who also get to try the holographic technology for the first time. Felt very empowered to be innovative.

How do you think the Tilt Five system can help transform your industry?

We have been doing R&D in using Tilt Five to view 3D scanned models.

How has the response been to your Tilt Five experience?

'Innovative', 'Fun educational tool', ' Easy to setup and use', 'The glasses are easier to put on than VR'
